Hi Sutharsan,
Thank you for your time to help with this. It appears that the article you linked has to do with syncing contacts and calendars. I use Outlook.com to sync calendars and contacts and I have no problems with that. My problems are entirely with syncing my e-mail from my IMAP e-mail to my Outlook app on iOS devices.
To answer your questions:
- What are the troubleshooting steps have you taken thus far?
- Force close app, reopen - does not help
- Uninstall app, reinstall - does not help
- Delete accounts from app and reestablish - does not help
- Reset accounts in app - does not help
- Delete accounts from app, delete app, reinstall app, reconnect accounts - seems to work at first, but after some time (seems like an hour) it stops syncing. I was incorrect that not connecting the Outlook.com account works. It just took about an hour for my IMAP e-mails to stop syncing.
- Disconnected phone and iPad as mobile devices from outlook.com settings - this worked at first as well, but then the sync problem started again where new e-mails would not sync.
- What happens if you logout and re-log in?
- See above.
- Do you recall taking any recent action that could result in this issue?
- I use an SSD for my computer and recently my computer updated and booted from my old HD. I didn't realize this at first so I went through and updated everything and installed Outlook and added my accounts. When I figured out I was just on the wrong hard drive I booted back to my SSD and the problem seemed to start happening a couple days after this. I don't know if this is related at all.
Hope this helps. Let me know any other questions I can help answer.

Hello RyanFallon,
Thank you for your detailed reply. It has helped me to understand your issue better.
Firstly, I strongly recommend you to stick with Outlook for iOS app because it is an official email app from Microsoft. Based on your account of the issue, if I understood correctly, you have no problem with syncing emails if you use the native Outlook app.
Secondly, I suspect the root cause of the IMAP syncing issue for your e-mails when you are using the native Mail app of iOS is Settings/connection issue.

I am not supposed to provide support for 3rd party products, but I will give you some hints and you have to get in touch with Apple support.
1. It might have to do with the setting of Mail sync frequency.
Steps:
1) Go to Settings > Mail
2. Auto check
3. Under Messages, select the appropriate frequency
2. You might have turned off cellular data for Mail app.
Go to Settings > Cellular, then turn Cellular Data on for Mail app so that it can use cellular data.
I hope my answer is helpful to you.
Sincerely,
Sutharsan

Hi there,
I think you misunderstood my reply. The native iOS Mail app IS working for me on my iPhone. The Outlook app is NOT working on my iPhone. I would rather use the Outlook app, but jt is not working.
Any other ideas of how to get my Outlook app to sync?

I would wonder if the Imap accounts on your phone require a application password. An example is a Gmail account.
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/185833?h...
The 2 step authentication may not be working in Outlook for you Imap accounts.
Another thing to try is to Resync your accounts from Outlook on IOS
To check your sync settings in Outlook on your IOS device. Open Outlook under your folder menu on the left is a gear. Click on the gear select the account you are having problems with Scroll down and click on Reset Account to see if it solves the problem with your iMap accounts in your Outlook.
Regards,
Sam

I have the same problem as well. From reading several posts on other websites, this issue has been reported several times with Outlook on iPhone for over a year now. I use both Android and iPhone with Outlook, and never have this problem with Android. I have stopped using Outlook on iPhone for now due to this ongoing problem.
